What should I do with unwanted Gold Jewelry?

Including items that are broken or damaged? Is it better to sell the gold for cash or have it fashioned into a new piece of jewelry?
Serious answers only please...don't answer just for points.

You certainly could attempt to sell the items to a jeweler and reap some cash back on that transaction. However, I think it would be nice to have the gold melted down and fashioned into a new piece for yourself.. perhaps a nugget charm or a nice signet ring. Depending on what you are having melted, the jeweler can tell you what can be created. Also, since you are providing the gold, the cost of fashioning a new item should be minimal. Be aware though, you should take it to an upstanding jeweler.. perhaps one that your family has used for sometime.

my mother-in-law once saw a set on antiques roadshow, Worth a bit, but shes not sure how much. she actually won a set onetime, still has the silver one...please help!!

how much would a 108 year old Silver Coin from India be worth?

its a 1 rupee coin
size is almost the same as a 2 pence coin in England
and condition is perfect.

They made over 65 million of them in Bombay, and over 5 million in Calcutta. This is too many for it to ever become "scarce" or "rare" for many hundreds more years. For either mintmark, if its truly "uncirculated" its worth about $25 US. If its been even lightly circulated, its worth about $12 US. If its been cleaned its worth only its silver content and little more. It has .3438 ounces of silver. This assumes it is dated 1900. These are "dealer to the public" full retail prices and a coin dealer would offer you less, if he's honest, and practically nothing if he is a thief. You could sell it on eBay with some good pics.

What's the best way to invest in Silver?

I have been coin collecting for the past few months and the Silver Coins really stand out to me. So much that I want to invest in bullion or ingots. I bought a few Silver Eagles and small gram bars on ebay. Thats becomes expensive quick with shipping and mark up, silver would have to double to make it worth while. I was wondering if there was a place to buy 1 ounce bars from a shop or from mints without paying double the value.

I would keep it simple & purchase silver because of its content & not commemorative specialties. While you may see a higher return with silver eagles the downside is if silver drops you will loose a larger % on those. Regular silver coins from 1964 & earlier will retain a better value in the content of silver even if it goes down.
