What should I do with unwanted Gold Jewelry?

Including items that are broken or damaged? Is it better to sell the gold for cash or have it fashioned into a new piece of jewelry?
Serious answers only please...don't answer just for points.

You certainly could attempt to sell the items to a jeweler and reap some cash back on that transaction. However, I think it would be nice to have the gold melted down and fashioned into a new piece for yourself.. perhaps a nugget charm or a nice signet ring. Depending on what you are having melted, the jeweler can tell you what can be created. Also, since you are providing the gold, the cost of fashioning a new item should be minimal. Be aware though, you should take it to an upstanding jeweler.. perhaps one that your family has used for sometime.

can anyone tell me the value of an American Silver Quarter Dollar?

The coin is not in excellent condition but it is all silver

That depends on what type of US silver quarter you have there. Most of the Washington 90% silver quarters minted from 1932-64, with the exception of the scarce 1932-D, 1932-S dates are valued less than $5 in grade Fine. Later dates in nice circulated conditions are only about $3.

How much would it cost to put a gem on a ring?

I got this small purple gem a year ago. I want to put it on a silver ring ( nothing too expensive). I was wondering if anyone knew how much it would be to put a little purple gem on a ring. Also, it's already cut to fit a ring and everything so basicly all it is is putting it on a ring,

not over $20, with the ring and gem's ready. Just have it done at local jeweler

find a hardwood store ... they will have all sorts of decorative hardwoods for you to choose from ... I wouldn't recommend lowe's or home depot ...
