How To Prepare A Complete Set Of Design Documents - A Checklist

Accuracy and reliability of Structural design documents play crucial role in the success of building or commercial structure. Find below a checklist of minimum information design documents should contain. Design team members and drafters should use this checklist to quality-check the completeness of their design documents.

Additionally, the team should keep in mind that the structural engineer is fully responsible for the design and sufficiency of all connections.

• Full base plate and anchor bolt requirements including base plate elevations for all columns; diameter, material grade, embedment, size of holes, hole pattern, plate orientation and weld requirements.

• Bracing plates should not collide with anchor bolts.

• Show material grades and sizes of all components, beams, columns and anchor bolts, etc. Completeness, simplicity and repetition leads to savings in cost.

• Cross-check orientation of columns on each plan.

• Show specific column, truss and girder splice location and details.

• Structural steel dimensions should be shown clearly on each plan; checked for precision, especially principal controlling geometry and dimensions.

• The structural drawings should be coordinated with architectural, mechanical and electrical requirements.

• All structural items should be clearly placed and identified on confirmed structural documents. No reference should be provided to external drawings.

• The specifications should be customized as per design requirements of the roject. They should be in agreement with all the drawings.

• It is advised that the specifications should include a requirement to take help of pre-qualified fabricators and pre-qualified steel detailers.

• Specify whether all design connections are either based on ASD or LRFD.

• Provide fully developed bracing connections: Show axial loads and whether or not one-third increases in stresses are permissible.

• Show fully developed truss connections: Moments, shears and axial loads depending on function of truss.

• Clearly specify specific safety and erection instructions or local codes in effect.

In the 2007 United States Mint Silver Proof Set are the four Presidential coins also 90% silver?

The coins are not made of silver. They are made of the same medal as the coins in circulation. They are struck more times than circulated coins.

The Presidential spouse coins are made of gold but the presidential dollars are not.

Also note "Distinguishing this collection are the dime, half-dollar and five commemorative state quarters, all of which are produced in lustrous 90% silver." Presidential dollars are not mentioned in the silver category.

sf proof set quarters......?

i have all of the San Francisco Proof set quarters of the fifty state quarters program in the original boxes. how much is it worth??

In a mailer I received from a reputable coin dealer he had listed the complete Statehood quarter set, in proof 69 condition (one grade from being perfect coins), for $849.00. Please note that the grade on these coins is extremely high and this is his retail price. If he was buying a set he would probably not pay more than $200 or $300 for it. Especially if they had not been graded by one of the third party grading services.

If there is to be any value derived from collecting the statehood quarters in the near future it will be in the proof sets rather than sets of circulated coins or even mint sets. Over an extended period of time the value of the other types of sets (circulated and mint) will probably increase also but not as much as a good set of proof coins.

You have a good set worth keeping for a while if there was no reason you have to sell the coins.

Might the U.S. Mint redesign the Half Dollar?

The Kennedy Half dollar has been produced since 1964.

JFK is very popular and to change the 1/2 at least for now would cause a big stink. If the cent is ever retired there would be a place in the cash register for the 1/2 dollar. The statute of liberty is now on the reverse of the presidential dollars. I am a patriot through and through and a Vietnam vet but this country needs to wake up and join the 21st century. We need to get rid of the cent at least in circulation and stop printing dollar bills. The the Dollar Coins will be used and we will not be paying over a cent to make a cent. People say the dollar coins are to heavy, but who carries over 5 ones anyway. We need to stop being lazy and work to keep government costs down. Just my opinion
